Porto Alegre, April 19 2021 – A weekly survey released by the Argentine Ministry of Agroindustry last Thursday (15) indicated that the soybean harvest of the 2020/21 season reaches 14% of the cultivated area of 16.972 mln hectares.

According to the Ministry, in the previous week the harvest was 8% complete. In the same period last year, the harvest reached 33% of the 16.882 mln hectares cultivated in the 2019/20 season.

The rather moist climate registered in the states of the growing belt last week prevented a better harvest advance in the main growing provinces of the country, keeping the work very late compared to the previous year. There are concerns about the quality of the soybeans reaped and about possible new production losses in a crop that will no longer be full due to some climatic problems registered during the crop development.

Forecasts point to another week of moist weather in the main growing provinces between April 16 and 22. Between April 23 and 29, moisture must be low, which must favor the harvest progress.
